Scientist, conservationist, explorer, and photographer. Mark W. Moffett, an entomologist at the Smithsonian Institute, wears many hats — and has gained renown as the kind of academic-cum-adventurer you thought only came with nicknames like “Indiana.” Moffett does have a nickname, and it’s one dear to his heart: Dr. Bugs. As one of the world’s foremost experts on social insects and the biology of the ecology of forest canopies, he’s recently written a book (Adventures Among Ants: A Global Safari With a Cast of Millions) about his study and photography of ants, those tiny, hardworking creatures the average person steps over hundreds of times a day, but rarely thinks about. Moffett recently sat down with LIFE to share the big world of the little insects. Embark on this photographic adventure with Dr. Bugs as he explores the microscopic world of these fascinating six-legged social animals that, when you stop to think about it, bear a striking resemblance to another social animal of an entirely different, two-legged sort.

Prince William and his fiancee Kate Middleton have selected the venue for their hotly anticipated wedding: On Friday, April 29, 2011, as the world watches, they will wed at London’s Westminster Abbey. The ancient Gothic church has been the site of many royal occasions over the decades, both joyous (the coronation and wedding of Queen Elizabeth II) and sorrowful (the funeral of William’s mother Diana). Here, take a look inside the ornate, stunning site.
Richard Prince give a nod to Picasso’s Demoiselles d’Avignon evidencing more meaning to the work than court afforded. Images such as the one featured above are far more representative of Prince’s exhibition than the image that lead to a sweeping conclusion that the entire show was a copyright infringement.

Bad news for appropriation artists and anyone else who’s ever produced a collage.
Wanna do the same thing to my wall, but with different angles of George Clooney. Highly doubt will get sued. Seems like a delicious good idea.
Beauty in accounting
It is worthwhile to discuss the different angles to this multi-faceted analysis, for much has been (and still must be) examined. The points raised above prove that this is beyond just a straightforward transfer-price problem. Rather, it involves cost analysis and allocation, manufacturing policies, differences in freight and tariff expenses and differing tax rates; ultimately, Kirkman Products must strike a balance among all these to arrive at the most beneficial alternative to this realistic manufacturing dilemma.
A 2:30 rant after watching Discovery Travel and Living
Life is rather unfair.
If I push through with my perfectly planned future, the peak of my career’s excitement will be sealing a million-dollar contract for a boss I probably hate.
I want to travel and be on Discovery and live my life the way I’ve always wanted to: day by day, no fears nor inhibitions, no worries nor matters of consequence, just pure, unrestrained joy.
But no. I will end up in a corporate jungle, where I will thrive my way to the top. I will drink wine and stay in some apartment in London (not bad) and get half-eaten by Alsatians.
I JUST WANNA BE A ROCKSTAR!!!!!!!!
